[...] When I first “met” Debbie Millman on SpeakUp, I (along with many others in the community) greeted her with a certain air of hostility due to what we saw as her and her firm’s “corporate and populist (soulless even)” (re)brandings for major corporations and their consumer products. She entered the fray with tenacity and intelligence, taking the criticism head on, and in time revealed through her discourse, truths about design and consumption that I personally had been very reluctant to face. The contrast between how I perceived her branding work and the humanity and wit with which she expressed herself and her personal work seemed so irreconcilable, yet I have since grown to understand it, and in turn learned a hell of a lot about design and branding because of it. Her continued commitment to the profession of design, as AIGA president, publisher, and radio host is a constant inspiration for me. I was so very pleased to include her paintings in the last issue of 2356. [...]

Hi, I'm a Graphic Design student from Mexico, and I just discovered 23:56 last night. I haven't been able to stop seeing your work, it's hard to get enough. To me there's nothing better than being able to express yourself, and this has it all, written and visual expressions, it's Visual Poetry.

Your work is very inspirational, it really makes me wanna keep on going and to always try to get a better effort from myself.

Unfortunately my actual economic situation isn't at it's best, studying Graphic Design, working and being a father at 20 isn't the great business. But I'm really looking forward on buying a few of your issues for sweet treasure collection.

What a lovingly-produced collection. Very few literary/arts magazines are so visually appealing as to call out to be revisited at a later date, but this one certainly does.
Glad to be on board,
Jesse (Fredericton)
